Multi-Cloud

“Multicloud” means using more than a single public cloud. That usage pattern arose when enterprises tried to avoid dependence on a single public cloud provider, when they chose specific services from each public cloud to get the best of each, or when they wanted both benefits.

Multi-cloud is the use of two or more cloud computing services from any number of different cloud vendors. A multi-cloud environment could be all-private, all-public or a combination of both. Companies use multi-cloud environments to distribute computing resources and minimize the risk of downtime and data loss. They can also increase the computing power and storage available to a business.

A multi-cloud may use several different architectures, such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), to achieve an overarching business goal. It’s “about using different providers to meet specific workload requirements, and aren’t necessarily connected to each other.
